SG 2010 Workshop

WORKSHOP

The 2010 SmartGeometry Workshop is organised around the challenge ‘Working prototypes’. Working prototypes are functioning prototypes developed for the purpose of proving and testing a concept and design. This puts fabrication and the physical at centre stage in challenging participants to design, assemble and test working prototypes.

The SG workshop is a unique creative cauldron attracting attendees from across the world of academia, professional practice as well as many of the brightest students. The workshop is open to 100 applicants who come together for four intensive days of design and collaboration.

CLUSTERS

The 2010 workshop will be organised around Clusters. Clusters are hubs of expertise. They comprise of people, knowledge, tools, materials and machines. They will facilitate the development and testing of working prototypes. The Clusters provide a focus for workshop participants working together closely in design resolution, exchange of ideas, processes and techniques.

There are ten clusters formed for SG2010, which embrace a rich spectrum of approaches. Each Cluster is championed by at least two tutors who are pioneers in their field. Clusters will form around 8-16 people.
